Bid Director
Role Description
The Bid Director is typically deployed on a bid requiring sizeable teams from multiple disciplines across a number of geographies and which will require approval from Corporate Board level. The Bid Director will take responsibility for ensuring that a winning bid strategy is in place, the solution is deliverable and that the bid risks are acceptable to the company.
The Bid Director may be required to manage multiple parallel bids, balancing the resources and priorities between them to get the optimum overall result for the company. This may involve multinational bid teams and bid team members whose first language is not English.
Role Capabilities
The Bid Director excels at motivating and managing people to perform against tight targets and under strict parameters. The Bid Director is able to quickly assimilate complex and copious information and to effectively map out clear strategies and work plans. He/she is excellent at extracting key issues and driving their resolution to whoever in the company must be involved. In addition to this attention to detail the Bid Director has a well honed sales capability that will be used to ensure that despite the pressures of bid production, the team will not lose sight of the fundamental need to provide a winning solution.
Role Experience
A Bid Director will have had direct sales experience and will have been responsible for the production of many winning tenders. He will also have Project Management qualifications or have delivered a number of large projects on time and to budget. He/she will typically have had over 15 years involvement with the biding or delivering of large complex projects.
